Visual identity, promotional material and environmental graphics for GEO—DESIGN, an exhibition by Design Academy Eindhoven running at Van Abbemuseum from 13 October until 11 November 2018 and presented at Salone del Mobile Milano from 9 to 14 April 2019. A booklet and website were designed for each occasion.
GEO—DESIGN is a new design research initiative and collaboration between Design Academy Eindhoven alumni. It approaches design from an investigative perspective, proposing a new format of research into the social, economic, geographical and geopolitical forces shaping the work of designers today. The first episode seeks to trace the nebulous outlines of Alibaba, a company possibly known as the world’s largest virtual shopping mall. Appropriating the flashy orange colour recognizable across all of the Alibaba Group’s platforms, the identity evokes a new geography of global trade, e-commerce and online advertisement.
