Reconstruction of Identities is a photographic project aiming to promote and protect the richness of both national and European cultural heritage. One of the objectives is relieving the isolated position of immigrants, many of which are still in the process of seeking asylum, by enhancing communication between foreigners and locals. The creative, accessible and inviting nature of photography is key in achieving this, as well as the close cooperation between local organisations, educational institutions, photographic archives, cultural institutions, festivals, museums and professionals in the field.
A traditional photo exhibition was initially planned. Caught by the 2020 pandemic, the original exhibition concept was transformed into a safe and accessible route along the canals of Amsterdam. A physical and digital map accompanied the billboards to suggest various routes to the visitors and passers-by. Designed and curated together with Michela Trovato Giancardillo.
